Church In Action

More than 1 million boxes of food have been delivered, in record time, from farmers to families in need! In just over 2 weeks, millions of dollars worth of farm fresh produce, meat, and dairy was purchased by the USDA from farmers whose workforce has been significantly impacted by the closure of restaurants, hotels and other food service businesses. This tremendous amount of food was then transported to food banks, community and faith-based organizations, and other non-profits, who distributed it to families in need across the United States. And no food was wasted! Praise God for providing for families in need, through the overflow of our agricultural providers.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16 (KJV)

Please join us, as the hands and feet of Jesus, in supporting Katy Christian Ministries, during this difficult time of COVID-19! Their ministry is experiencing a dramatic increase in the number of families seeking assistance at their food pantry, crisis center and social services center! Concurrent with this supplemental demand, they had to close their resale shops (until last week), cancel fund raisers and their overall community financial giving is down ---all of which are essential to funding their free programs and services in our local community!

How can we help KCM?

  • Donate non-perishables and household supplies to their Food Pantry (see list of urgent needs). Have items shipped or drop them off to the address listed.

Double Dog Dare

During these unprecedented times of COVID-19, many families in our local community have been, or ultimately may be, negatively impacted by job loss or other dire circumstances related to containing this pandemic. In response to this, we have modified our existing Double Dog Dare program for small groups to assist a neighbor, friend, co-worker or another in your personal networks with up to $500 toward their car payment, rent or mortgage payment, groceries, medical costs or any other necessity for their well being.

GUIDELINES:
  1. Small group members must pay the bill/make the purchase upfront & then turn in the paid invoice/receipt to be reimbursed. NOTE: You may not purchase gift cards.
  2.  DDD projects are intended as a local community outreach, NOT for Grace Fellowshippers as the recipients. If you know a Grace Fellowshipper in need, have them contact our Care Ministry at care@whatisgrace.org.
  3. One DDD project per small group and recipient family
  4. These special DDD funds are initially reserved for LOCAL (West Houston/Katy area) needs.

Be the Church and glorify Him by making a big difference in someone's life during this crazy time!

Katy Responds

Are you seeking assistance for recovery after Hurricane Harvey? Grace Fellowship is proud to partner with Katy Responds. For more information, contact info@katyresponds.org.

Katy Responds was formed in July 2018 as an outgrowth of the relief and restoration work performed by the network of churches located in Katy, Texas. Currently, there are 14 churches and 7 community businesses/organizations that participate in Katy Responds (“KR”) and we are working to engage dozens of additional organizations in restoring our community.

Over the past thirteen months since Hurricane Harvey, the churches in Katy, TX have engaged in assistance of thousands of homes. The current KR network churches have directly participated in the partial or complete restoration of more than 200 homes. These homes were restored through the efforts of church members, community volunteers and professionals. Since formation, KR has assisted coordinating investment and volunteer resources into the restoration of five homes. This work moved ahead while KR pursues grant funding to invest in more community homes and is building additional local support.

Who do we help?: Katy Responds desires to follow Christ’s example by reaching out to all people in the community and sharing God’s love. Hurricane Harvey is the largest housing disaster in the history of our nation. The wide-spread physical and emotional damage following Hurricane Harvey has created a unique opening to love those in need. KR accepts applicants for assistance from Katy, Texas area homeowners who have owned their home since August 26, 2017 and were impacted by Hurricane Harvey.

The homeowners are evaluated to determine those most in need based upon criteria such as: elderly, disabled, first responders, single-parent, number of children and ages, recent immigrant / refugee, ability to live in home currently, etc.  KR remains focused on the Katy, Texas community. Visit katyresponds.org, follow "Katy Responds" on Facebook or contact KR at info@katyresponds.org.

The Church In Action Team is always seeking volunteers to help plan events, coordinate communication, and assist with administrative tasks. If you are interested in serving in this way, contact churchinaction@whatisgrace.org.
