Harvey Recovery

Harvey Recovery

As we all know–and many of us in a very direct and personal way–an unprecedented disaster in the Houston and surrounding area began to unfold when Hurricane Harvey came onshore.  We are in the midst of flood-caused devastation and loss beyond what has ever been experienced in our region.  Our hearts go out to everyone who has been impacted.

Our community has pulled together in remarkable ways, and the outpouring of compassion and help has been amazing.  In the months and even years ahead, there is much more work to do to recover and rebuild our communities.  It is going to be difficult, and at times discouraging as we seek to recover.  Yet, the 46th Psalm tells us that “God is our refuge and strength.  An ever-present help in trouble”.  Our region is experiencing unbelievable trouble.  It is comforting to know that God is our perfect refuge and strength in this time.

God uses His people in moments like this to comfort one another and show His love though our hands and feet.  The Katy Church (including Grace Fellowship) has joined together to be the hands and feet of Jesus to our surrounding community as we seek to recover, and we invite you to be part of the long-term recovery.

Our neighbors need all of us to continue to be those hands and feet.  Galatians 6:9-10a tells us “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone …”

There is much good that still needs to be done in our community, and Grace Fellowship will continue to partner with other local churches and non-profits in the recovery efforts.  If you want to help this region recover from the Harvey floods, go to the “I WANT TO HELP” section and the “I WANT TO GIVE” section to learn how you can serve our neighbors who have experienced devastating loss.

And please continue to pray.  God hears and responds to the prayers of His people.  Psalm 107 tells us “Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and He delivered them from their distress.  He made the storm be still, and the waves of the sea were hushed.  Then they were glad that the waters were quiet, and He brought them to their desired haven.  Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man!”

Hurricane Harvey Stories

Hurricane Harvey impacted our entire community. We are all feeling the effects. This storm broke records and demolished homes and businesses; but didn’t break our sense of community. As we deal with the aftermath, Grace Fellowship has come to understand that everyone has a Hurricane Harvey story, and we want to hear yours. Share with us briefly what you dealt with during the storm. How were you helped? How did you help others? How did you see God moving in the midst of this difficult time?  CLICK HERE to submit your story and read other God-moments during Hurricane Harvey.

I NEED HELP

For Grace Fellowshipper needs, other than Home Repairs:

Grace Fellowship wants to help as many people as possible who have been affected by Hurricane Harvey and the flooding in our community.  The purpose of this form is to help us get information regarding the needs of our own Grace Fellowship family, for example;  groceries, car rides, non-emergency medical needs or issues, or meals.  Whatever your personal need is, please fill out the form below. Because of the large number of inquiries that we are receiving, we are needing to set certain priorities that will inform what situations we will try to handle in what order and what situations we will not be able to help with. As we seek to help our own Grace Fellowship family, we will prioritize the elderly, the sick, and single mothers.
