PARENT RESOURCES from My Online Life: Sexting
Held on January 18, for high school students and parents of junior high and high school students, the Open House for My Online Life: Sexting was attended by over 300 students and parents. Click the links below for additional resources for parents & students in the area of social media safety:
- Lone Star Social Media Safety - This Facebook group is operated by Lone Star Cowboy Church for the purpose of sharing information regarding safety with all forms of social media.
- Katie Greer is a recognized, national expert in Internet/digital safety and technology. Katie’s website will give you up-to-date information on the latest apps and social media - what’s safe and what’s not.
- Send This Instead We asked all the funny people we knew, “What would you say if someone asked you to send images you didn’t want to?” We took their answers and made posters and developed this app. The posters are witty, sarcastic and meant to help get the point across – using humor as a strategy.
- Need Help Now If you (or a friend, peer or sibling) have been involved in a self/peer exploitation incident (otherwise known as “sexting”), we are here to help. This site provides you with guidance on steps you can take to get through this.
